Just 12 months since the launch of the DHP-AQ, Danfoss Heat Pumps has reported the huge popularity of this innovative air source heat pump with specifiers and homeowners.
It is being widely specified for new builds and home renovations, where customers are looking for low running noise, contemporary aesthetics and excellent thermal performance.
But it’s the unique features that are really making the difference. With the DHP-AQ, cooling comes as a standard feature, with its in-built facility which provides greater comfort in the home. A high level of customisation is available with the model, which includes the option of hot water time-control and night setback for the heating system, both of which optimise energy efficiency.
Chris Dale, Director of Danfoss Heat Pumps, said: “Our innovative DHP-AQ air source heat pump enables customisation to suit the lifestyle of occupants, with so many innovative features available. We’ve had a huge response since its launch last year and it is widely being specified for both small and large homes and commercial units.”
The DHP-AQ is also popular as it is suitable for single phase domestic use, up to 16kW, unlike some other heat pumps on the market which operate only on three phase at this output. It can also be cascaded in a master/slave arranged with two outdoor units run by one internal controller, giving a total output of 36kW in three phase.
Unlike some air source heat pumps, the DHP-AQ only defrosts when it needs to and only stops defrosting when the coil is free from ice, which again adds to its efficiency as this is the process for which heat pumps normally use most energy which does affect the performance and efficiency of air source heat pumps.
For new builds and extensions, it also has a unique screed drying setting, which intelligently controls the drying process for concrete or plasterwork and is effective whether underfloor heating or radiators are used.
So controllable is DHP-AQ that homeowners can set their holiday dates many months in advance, which enables this intelligent heat pump to maximise energy efficiency.
This innovative air source unit also enables tariff control, which means it is future-proof, helping the homeowner to minimise running costs as electricity prices increase.
Market-leading seasonal performance is a key feature of DHP-AQ, thanks to a unique control system that constantly controls and optimises three key parameters in the product: airflow (efficient variable speed EC fan), the refrigerant circuit (electronic expansion valve) and heat distribution (OPTI technology).
In combination, these create the ultimate in air/water heat pump efficiency, enabling DHP-AQ to perform perfectly at very low outdoor temperatures, keeping a property comfortably heated, as well as providing constant hot water.
The DHP-AQ range is available with a choice of three different indoor kits – Mini, Midi and Maxi to suit buyer’s tastes and the project’s requirements.
The range is also proving popular with installers too, due to its simple and intuitive wiring, which means it is very easy to install. Danfoss Heat Pumps has a network of approved installers who are fully trained on the new product range.
Danfoss’s range of heat pumps are known for their reliability and trouble free operation and this range is no different, as Chris Dale explains: “Our DHP-AQ air source unit provides a reliable and sustainable source of heating, cooling and hot water, it’s no wonder it has seen such popularity, especially in off-grid areas.”
Danfoss Heat Pumps has extensive experience in the manufacture of heat pump systems for schools, community buildings, developers, local authorities, housing associations and self builders. The company has a recommended network of approved installers throughout the UK, which it supports with system design, technical support and training.
