Unique clear preservative treatment launched that leaves timber looking natural

Tanalised Clear pressure-treated timber is ideal for use in timber buildings, decking components, cladding and cedar shingle applications where the natural appearance of the timber is retained whilst having a preservative protection to Use Classes 1, 2 and 3.

Developed by Arch Timber Protection, Tanalised Clear timber is treated with Tanalith M, a new metal-free preservative, which retains the natural, untreated appearance of the timber rather than giving the pale green colouration of Tanalised E treated timbers. Based on an advanced and innovative formulation, Tanalised Clear treatment provides excellent protection against UV degradation and wood staining fungi, keeping the timber looking cleaner and brighter for longer when used in outdoor, above ground applications.

Dr. Tony Kelly, Arch Timber Protection's Sales Director said: ‘Arch has a commitment to full field testing of its products before they come to market. As well as extensive tests carried out by ourselves, we also have Tanalised Clear treated timber under-going a series of independent trials in Sweden and Germany and we are extremely pleased with the results. Tanalised Clear treated timber has proven to more than meet the preservative performance requirements for Use Class 3.2 applications – exterior timbers, above ground contact and uncoated.’

‘However, it is the aesthetic performance that is particularly pleasing. In the latest report from independent EcoBuild trials in Sweden it was stated that, ‘it was remarkable to observe that all of the Tanalith M treated test rigs have retained their original appearance and had not acquired the typical greyish colour of untreated, thermally treated or CCA treated timbers, even after two years exposure’.

‘In Tanalised Clear we believe we have another unique treated timber option for our customers and for the specification market’.
