Sport England has published a new audit checklist to help specifiers ensure their existing or new sports facility delivers optimum accessibility in line with new legislation and guidance: a checklist that can be mainly fulfilled through just one source.

“Sport England’s accessible sports facilities audit checklist is intended to assist the user to access accessibility and help identify and avoid barriers that might otherwise limit the use of the facility by people with a disability,” explains Robin Tuffley, Total Hygiene marketing manager.

Northcroft Leisure Centre in Berkshire is just one sports venue that has already used Total Hygiene to install a Changing Places toilet, and has gone beyond the core requirements in further incorporating one of Total Hygiene’s Clos-o-Mat ‘wash and dry’ toilet in the room, to maximize accessibility.
“The Changing Places room has been well received. It is a wonderful facility. In the year we have had the Changing Places toilet open, we have only had one negative comment: that was simply asking for a chair to be included in the room, which we have done,” says Centre Manager Alex Godfrey. “If Changing Places toilets are strategically positioned- for example so they interconnect with amenities- we believe they can have a notable, positive impact on visitor numbers.”
