Speakers have been announced for the upcoming UK-GBC ‘Renew by Retrofit’ training course running on 4 July at the CoRE (Centre of Refurbishment Excellence) Conference and Demonstration Centre in Stoke.
One of the speakers, Andrew Dobson of Purcell designed the building where the course is being held. CoRE is a ‘unique building with a unique vision.’
A BREEAM Excellent, converted Victorian pottery factory which now houses a purpose built exhibition space and national training facility in the techniques and materials needed to refurbish the UK housing stock to the highest modern standards.
Don Leiper, Director of New Business at E.ON said, "This building, and the work that’s going on to restore it, represents what needs to be done across the country to improve our homes and business premises – supporting at least 65,000 insulation and construction jobs by 2015."
Roger Hunt, the final speaker of the day is an award winning blogger and writer specialising in sustainability, old houses, housebuilding and traditional and modern building materials. During his session, Roger will give practical examples for a more sustainable approach to historic buildings.
