Ceramic Tile Distributors (CTD) has completely refurbished the flagship showroom at its Newcastle headquarters, including the laying of more than 400 m2 of beige Gemini Young Stone tiles. Every one of the 1,200 glazed porcelain, 600 mm x 600 mm floor tiles was fixed using BAL Supercover Rapidset adhesive with BAL Admix AD1 and finished with BAL Microcolour grout.
Ernie Quinn, CTD branch manager, said: “An attractive appearance is vital in all of CTD’s 50-plus branches nationwide, but Newcastle is the company’s home and we have to set a standard. This means that, as tile experts, our own tiling must be perfectly fixed as well as looking good. At the same time, the job had to be completed fast, with only short windows of opportunity for work to be carried out. In addition, we are just like our customers in demanding both quality and value. Putting it all together, BAL was the only choice for the job.”
BAL Supercover Rapidset was ideal for CTD’s new floor, laid on top of the existing tiling, for a number of reasons. It applies easily, with good bond strength enhanced by the use of BAL Admix AD1, and offers tremendous value: kg for kg, it mixes to give 60% more coverage than standard adhesives.
