In 1985, Graham Curtis established Thermsaver. A Company intended to promote Heating Controls and Energy Conservation. Now, 25 years down the line, Thermsaver’s product catalogue has exploded. Several new ventures have translated into great success, and currently poised on the edge of a renewable energy boom, they are ready to embrace a market skyrocket, thanks largely to the Government’s Renewable Heat Incentive, active from June 2011.
Thermsaver’s contribution to the renewable heat market comes in the form of DeLonghi Heat Pumps, for which they were appointed exclusive Scottish Regional distributors in January 2010, as well as setting up an innovative training centre to instruct keen Plumbing and Heating Engineers, in the installation of heat pumps, who are eager to take their business to the next level.
The training centre, which was unveiled in February 2010, with the aid of local MSP Michael McMahon, has been successfully running two day training courses for over a year to packed workshops full of engineers who do not have the simple “fix or replace” mentality of many of their competitors. They see the benefit of joining the renewable heating trend in the ever changing marketplace, where if businesses do not adapt, they die.
The engineers will achieve MCS Accreditation, meaning that both DeLonghi and Thermsaver’s unequivocal market reputation as promoters of quality and high standards, will remain firmly cemented. Thermsaver strives to control the supply of DeLonghi brand Heat Pumps through the installers who have attended the training course and other MCS Accredited Bodies. They are firm in the fact that they will not be a general supplier of white boxes to the heat pump market.
However, Thermsaver do not only distribute and provide training for their range of heat pumps. Thanks to the launch of CHES, a Company founded by Graham’s Son Stewart, they can collaborate in order to ensure full and informative support to the customer both in terms of designing their heating system and integrating the heat pump with their current heating appliances.
Thermsaver have also been joined by their new Business Development Manager, David Black, who has over 25 years in the plumbing and heating merchant industry and have enlisted the expertise of Alan Hall, from DeLonghI, who is acting as Business Development Manager as well as overseeing the exclusive training course. Despite this amplified focus on heat pumps, Thermsaver are still marketing their standard range of heating products, including underfloor heating systems, unvented hot water cylinders, room thermostats and a vast range of electric and oil boilers, all of which are distributed from their depot at Eurocentral, with estimated next day delivery.
Now, Thermsaver are still looking to the future with their heavy involvement in the renewable heat market, in which they hope to display the same commitment to quality and customer satisfaction that has been their trademark for the last quarter century. They are eternally grateful for the support and loyalty of their customer base and hope, that with the renewable heat incentive and new heat pump training centre, they will be joined by others, both consumers and installers, who see the bigger picture in terms of saving energy and saving the planet.
