Standard Geotextiles like TERRAM 1000 have been used in the application of landscaping for many years for ground stabilisation offering filter, reinforcement and separator benefits. TERRAM however offer a variety of other geosynthetic products to the landscaping market;
TERRAM Rootguard is a geotextile used to protect buildings, paths, walls, drainage pipes, cables and lawns from damage caused by root development. Where tree roots grow close to the surface, structures may subside and crack causing expensive repair. Rootguard provides excellent resistance to root development as it has high tensile strength and is puncture resistant. TERRAM Rootguard PLUS a composite of geotextile bonded to a HDPE membrane ensures a more robust protection. The added benefit of HDPE enables the product to withstand penetration by even the most vigorous of tree roots.
TERRAM Drainage Geocomposites are geotextiles consisting of bonded textiles, membranes and net to provide filter and separation functions. The geotextile layer provides filter properties allowing liquid/ gases to be passed through to the net layer which ‘drains’ to collection points. The geotextile layer also prevents any soil particles from entering the net, avoiding clogging. Membranes are used to provide a barrier function and prevent the passage of liquids/gases. Typical applications include retaining walls, tunnels, landfills, and buried structures. A good composite must be robust to survive installation and service life, be stable under load to resist deformation that could ultimately restrict flow and have good chemical resistance. TERRAM drainage composites are proven to satisfy these criteria.
TERRAM Geocells are geotextiles cells supplied in compact panels and expanded on site to form a honeycomb area of cells. Traditionally filled with sand or gravel and used for many load support applications, TERRAM Geocell is also able to provide tree root protection. Recommended by the British Standards Institution, the use of Geocells provide protection to sensitive tree roots in the development stages, whilst the permeable geotextile allows the flow of water & nutrients to the trees roots.
