THE STRAND HOUSE RESTAURANT LOOKS TO CRL FOR GLASS HARDWARE TO SHOWCASE THEIR KILLER OCEAN VIEWS

The Strand House, a $10 million project from the Zislis Group, took over the closed "Beaches" restaurant in Manhattan Beach, California and transformed the former exterior to exquisite towering glass walls looking out over the ocean. The Designer on the project Paolo Volpis Design Studio, was responsible for making the new, contemporary restaurant look and feel as if it were just one of the eloquent beach houses that line The Strand. When it came time to design the interior stairways and exterior balcony guard rails, the designer and owner chose CRL to manufacture systems with "brilliant transparency."

Architectural Railings

CRL’s GRS Glass Railing, featuring the patented TAPER-LOC® Dry Glaze System is installed at the staircase, bar, and outdoor balcony areas. Dry glazing means installation time was reduced by fifty percent because there wasn't mixing or clean-up of messy cement, especially at the stair locations. With the "brilliant transparency" of the glass railings, balustrades, and glass walls in front, the restaurant patrons can enjoy the wonderful unobstructed ocean views from just about anywhere inside. At the same time, the extensive use of glass allows for natural light to enter and illuminate the interior for a real healthy, at the beach feel.

CRL’s scope of work also included glass doors throughout and stainless steel column cladding.

'All-Glass' Entrances

The Glass Doors at the main entrance and throughout the restaurant used CRL’s Wedge-Lock™ Door Rails and our Straight Style Ladder Pulls to continue the theme of unobstructed views and allow the natural light inside the building. The Doors are fully adjustable without having to remove them, are available with or without locks, and are offered in six standard finishes. CRL’s Ladder Pulls are available in eleven sizes ranging from 610 to 2134 mm overall height.
