The Hub is a newly designed Award winning lottery-funded youth project, providing a range of leisure, sporting, educational and recreational facilities. Aimed at 13-19 year olds, they played a strong role in drawing up the brief for the project, helping with fundraising and contributing to the design process with Browne Smith Baker Architects of Darlington.
The highly innovative design had to meet a number of challenging environmental and operational demands, not least an entrance solution that provides uninterrupted access for BMX riders through reception to the track. Working with Besam to identify the ideal solution, Browne Smith Baker specified two Uni-turn-36 revolving doors to provide a range of benefits including:
