Lafarge Plasterboard has supplied its multipurpose gypsum board GTEC LaDura for the new pavilion at Oxford City Football Club, after the material’s outstanding finish marked it out as a superior alternative to the painted block work that was originally specified for the project.
2,200m² of GTEC LaDura was supplied to Facilitas, who selected the material as its chosen plasterboard at the 2,000-capacity ground. The board has been used throughout the reception, function rooms, circulation areas, changing rooms and the showers of the new pavilion, which is a key part of a broader redevelopment project at the ground.
Duncan More, Project Manager for Facilitas, comments: “GTEC LaDura provided the perfect alternative to painted block work because it was strong and durable enough to meet our technical needs and gave us a high-quality finish.
“Having a great finish is a really important consideration for any project that requires a fresh and modern look and when we started looking for a durable board we found that GTEC LaDura was ideal.”
The board contains a dense gypsum core with 8% hard wood particles, making it stronger and harder than standard plasterboard. Since its launch at Ecobuild 2011, the board has been proven in commercial environments and has been cutting cost and time for installers by removing the need for patresses and reinforcements.
