Northampton-based Stertil Stokvis has secured an exclusive three-year contract to supply products from its acclaimed range of loading bay equipment to Royal Mail Group Limited. The company was invited to tender in competition with many suppliers from across Europe and emerged as the preferred supplier.
The bidding process involved the evaluation of each bidding company against a range of criteria. These included: total cost of acquisition – price including all elements as per the specification; health and safety – conformance and application of health and safety standards; quality – conformance to specification, quality assurance and standards; commercial – agreement to terms and conditions and, finally, delivery – provision and times scales, ability to meet delivery lead times, compliance to delivery specification, assurance of supply and account management.
Overall, Stertil Stokvis achieved satisfactory rankings in these appraisals and attained particularly high scores in the ‘quality’ and ‘health and safety’ categories. Royal Mail’s assessment recorded Stertil Stokvis’s ‘... detailed response in relation to the health and safety section with further back up information’ and, in the ‘quality’ section, mentioned the company providing ‘... a detailed set of clarifications and response to the questions.’ The report went on to say, ‘They clearly showed how their proposed equipment met the RMG (Royal Mail Group) specification.
The ‘sole supplier’ contract between Stertil Stokvis and Royal Mail Group will run for a period of three years followed by an optional two-year extension. Commenting on this latest success, Andy Georgiou, general manager of the company’s loading bay division, says, “Stertil Stokvis has worked in partnership with the Royal Mail Group for a number of years and we are delighted to continue that relationship into the future. It was particularly pleasing to come out on top with our bid against competitive companies from across the UK and Europe. Stertil Stokvis loading bay equipment and industrial doors isn’t the cheapest range on the market, but we’ve always striven to manufacture up to a standard – not down to a price!”
