“Celebrating British Design” is a one-day event, featuring a series of thought-provoking talks and discussions, examining why British designers are so influential, why design matters, and what it can do to improve the world.
The conference programme will feature fashion designer Sir Paul Smith in conversation with journalist Rosie Millard, and contributions from Deyan Sudjic, Design Director of the Design Museum, Katy Lithgow, Head Conservator at the National Trust and Glenn Adamson, Head of Research at the V&A.
“We are delighted to be sponsoring the BIID annual conference in 2012,” says Paul Gillett, Executive Director at insurance broker, Bluefin Professions. “This event brings with it a great opportunity to demonstrate our continued support and commitment to the BIID and to the interior design profession as a whole. It is only through engaging with members and learning about the industry that we can truly understand the requirements of BIID members and offer the best possible products and services to meet their needs.”
“We are very excited to be supporting the ‘Celebrating British Design’ conference,” adds Petra van Meeuwen, Marketing Manager at the leading manufacturer of advanced control and automation systems for the home, Crestron UK. “We are committed to supporting the interior design industry and with the BIID as the professional governing body, it is a great opportunity for Crestron. There is a huge demand for technology within residential schemes, and it is important that interior designers understand how technology can enhance their projects. We want to demystify technology, and by working with the BIID, we can explain the benefits and wide range of options available.”
Managing Director Tim Leedham, at Hettich UK, the world’s leading innovator in fittings for furniture says: “We are delighted to support the BIID Celebrating British Design event, because only through good, home-grown design, can the British furniture industry truly thrive and grow. If good design is about form and function, we at Hettich can enhance both. Whenever we demonstrate our solutions to designers and architects, they are consistently impressed by the potential we offer to add quality and value to a project.”
“GROHE are incredibly proud to be sponsoring Celebrating British Design, following our sponsorship of last year’s BIID Retrofit conference” says Martin Rowell, Channel Manager - Architects and Designers, GROHE Ltd. “As Europe’s largest and the world’s leading single-brand bathroom fittings manufacturer, we look forward to showcasing some cutting edge innovations for 2012. British Designer, Paul Flowers, Senior Vice President of Design at GROHE, will reinforce the ‘Best of British’ theme and demonstrate how GROHE water efficient products equate to high performance and unsurpassed design.”
