Spire Liverpool Hospital recently opened their brand new service - Perform - combining elite medical expertise with leading technologies, to enable individuals to perform at their very best.
Perform is a premium service for those who require rehabilitation from injury or illness, or want to improve their overall health and fitness. It's also proving popular with the region's athletes, acting as a local version of the new Perform at St George’s Park, which opened this autumn at The Football Association’s new training home in Burton-upon-Trent.
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Spire Liverpool, Andrew Taylor, said: "Like Perform at St. George’s Park, Liverpool's centre provides athlete-level treatment and expertise concerning sports medicine, physiotherapy and rehabilitation; all adapted to suit local health needs.
Liverpool's Perform is the first in the region to offer the Alter G gravity-defying treadmill to the general public, which is partial weight-bearing and uses technology developed at NASA in order to provide medical rehabilitation and sports performance training - already used by the Warrington Wolves team and Olympic bronze medallist, Beth Tweddle.
St. Georges Park is The Football Associations new 'university of football' and will provide a training home for the 24 England football teams as well as a national coach and education development centre for football, sport and business.
Perform at St. Georges Park is set to become an internationally renowned centre of excellence for human performance, sports medicine, rehabilitation and research. While football will be at its heart, the facility will help everyone to maximise their performance; from elite athletes to the local community as well as corporate organisations.
The carefully selected multi-disciplinary team at Perform, includes Specialist Chartered Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, Nutritional Therapist and Sports Massage Therapist who all work alongside consultant sports medicine physicians and Orthopaedic Surgeons.
