Ultimate High Security range is first to achieve Secured by Design approval
Specialist patio door manufacturer, Sliders UK, has been awarded Secured by Design (SBD) ‘Police Preferred Specification’ status for its Ultimate High Security range of bi-folding doors. Sliders’ Ultimate PVCu/aluminium composite system is the first and only bi-fold to achieve the much sought after Police security accolade, confirming its position as the most secure and crime resistant bi-folding door in the UK.
Sliders’ achievement marks an important milestone in bi-fold development. Although bi-folding doors have become an increasingly popular style choice in recent years, the low quality of the locking hardware used on some products has been criticised for failing to protect properties and occupants from would-be intruders.

Sliders’ Ultimate High Security bi-folds are the only bi-folding doors to be awarded SBD status, which means that they have been specifically upgraded and tested to meet the security standards identified by the Association of Chief Police Officers Secured By Design (ACPO SBD) initiative. Sliders’ Ultimate bi-folding doors incorporate a variety of enhanced security features, including a uniquely designed, PAS 24 approved hook locking system; kite-marked anti-snap/anti-bump cylinders; secure, low level keep plates; and a strong aluminium sub-frame with quadruple seals on all sash joints.

In addition to security, Sliders have added a number of other features to the Ultimate bi-folding door to improve the all round performance and maintenance of the system. These include a new running track which is located on the floor to better support the weight of the system, and the addition of a brush seal on the outer track to prevent fallen leaves and other debris from accumulating in the ‘running area’.
To deliver improved aesthetics for property owners, the threshold height has also been massively reduced. Standing at 106mm, the threshold on Sliders’ Ultimate bi-folds can also be sunk to achieve as low as 66mm threshold height, compared to the much higher threshold height (typically 144mm) offered by most other PVC bi-folds.
