The stage is set for accelerated growth across the Chinese market as Schindler’s global product portfolio becomes even more attractive with the launch of the Schindler 5500, Schindler’s new elevator for commercial and high-end residential buildings.
The Schindler 5500 complements Schindler’s top of the range elevator system for high-rise buildings, the Schindler 7000 and Schindler’s offering in the affordable housing market, the Schindler 3300, the best-selling elevator in the industry.
Here are some highlights from some of the latest high-profile wins for Schindler China.
Beijing: Beijing Poly International Plaza The China Poly Group, one of China’s leading developers, recently awarded Schindler a milestone project in Beijing. Located in the city’s traditional business district of Wang Fu Jing, close to Tiananmen Square, Beijing Poly International Plaza will feature three mixed-use towers offering office and retail space. The contract covers the installation and maintenance of 18 Schindler 7000 and two Schindler 5400AP elevators, all of which will be produced in Schindler’s domestic Suzhou factory. Construction will begin in August 2013 and end in April 2014.
Chongqing: CRC Center In Chongqing, Schindler is supplying mobility solutions for the latest project from China Resources Land. The vast Chongqing CRC Center is conceived as a mixed use complex including office buildings, a five-star hotel and shopping centers. The project site is in Chongqing’s bustling Yang Jia Ping area, poised to be the city’s newest business district. The contract includes the installation and maintenance of 38 Schindler 7000 and 50 Schindler 5400AP elevators, along with 116 escalators. Assembly work began this month and is due for completion in December 2014.

Dalian: Victoria Plaza Victoria Plaza is set to add momentum to an already vibrant neighborhood in Dalian, a major city and seaport in the south of Liaoning province, Northeast China. The development will be located in the Dong Gang district, expected to grow into the city’s newest business center over the coming years. The project consists of three apartment towers and one mixed apartment/office tower. Hengli Real Estate Development Company, Victoria Plaza’s developer, asked Schindler to install and maintain 53 Schindler 7000, eight 5400 MMR, three 5400 MRL and two 3300 AP elevators, as well as four 9300 AE escalators. Work on Victoria Plaza is scheduled to start in Q1 2014 and to be completed in Q2 2015. Schindler will be the sole supplier of elevators and escalators for this project.
Fuzhou: Shenglong Financial Center Located in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province, the Shenglong Financial Center will be one of the province’s tallest buildings when completed. This landmark building in the new heart of Fuzhou’s central business district is a keystone project for the Shenglong Group, a dominant player in China’s high-tech market. As the sole mobility partner, Schindler will handle all vertical transportation in the office tower, including the installation and maintenance of 24 Schindler 7000 elevators and three Schindler 5400 elevators. The elevators will come from Schindler China’s elevator manufacturing plant in Suzhou and EBI Works in Ebikon, Switzerland. The installation, which began in January 2013, is due to be completed in October 2013.
Guangzhou: Two projects in Zhujiang New Town In Guangzhou, a sprawling city of over 14 million people in the south of China, Schindler will help set the tone for the city’s new central business district thanks to a major contract from the Agile Property Land Company for a 190-meter Grade A office building in Zhujiang New Town. This large project will be located in the city’s Tianhe district, home to notable city landmarks such as the Zaha Hadid-designed Opera House. The contract is for the installation and maintenance of 22 Schindler 7000 elevators, all of which will be equipped with Schindler’s industry-leading destination dispatch system “PORT”. Also included are three Schindler 5400 AP elevators, two Schindler 3300 AP elevators and four Schindler 9300 escalators. The project is expected to be complete in early 2014.
Schindler will also supply another project in Zhujiang New Town, an office building being jointly developed by GT Land, KWG and Wanzhou Properties. The contract covers the installation and maintenance of 32 Schindler 7000 elevators, all of which will be equipped with PORT, including four double-deck elevators that will serve as shuttles. The order also features seven Schindler 5400 AP elevators and 18 Schindler 9300 escalators. Construction will begin in August 2013 and end in early 2014. Schindler’s Suzhou and Shanghai factories will be providing all the elevator and escalator units for both Zhujiang New Town projects, while the PORT technology will be sourced from Switzerland.
Jiangyin: Wuxi Tianjin Financial Center Situated in Jiangyin, one of the most important transport hubs on the Yangtse river, the Wuxi Tianjin Financial Center (developer: Jiangyin Hailan Group) will offer modern and luxury office space to one of China’s fastest developing regions. The contract includes the installation and maintenance of 26 Schindler 7000 elevators, all of which will be equipped with PORT, and four Schindler 5400 elevators. The units will come from Schindler China’s manufacturing plant in Suzhou and EBI Works in Ebikon, Switzerland. This project is due to be complete in 2014.
Shanghai: Century Link Plaza and North Bund White Magnolia Plaza Located on Shanghai’s bustling Century Avenue, the Century Link Plaza will consist of two Grade A office buildings, each over 200 meters tall, connected by one of the largest shopping centers in the city. The contract from the Hutchinson Whampoa Real Estate Development Company entails the installation and maintenance of 18 Schindler 7000 elevators, including 14 double-deck models. The shopping mall section will feature 77 Schindler 9300AE escalators and four Schindler 5400 MRL elevators, and the office building will benefit from PORT destination dispatch throughout. The project, which marks the first installation in China of Schindler’s new 5500 product line, is due to be completed in 2015.
Once finished, the North Bund White Magnolia Plaza will feature a 330-meter office tower, the highest building in Shanghai’s famous Puxi district. This enormous project by North Bund Golden Port Real Estate Development will be a mixed use complex, including office buildings and a five-star hotel.
The contract covers the installation and maintenance of 42 Schindler 7000 elevators, all of which will be equipped with PORT, and include six double deck models for the office section. The project also features two Schindler 5400 elevators and 12 Schindler 9300 escalators. The project is due for completion in 2015.
