New from Scalemaster is the i-Mag magnetic sludge filter, which helps maintain heating system efficiency and increase component lifespan.
The natural build up of black iron oxide sludge (magnetite) reduces the performance and efficiency of both new and old central heating systems within homes.
The sludge is a caused by dissolved oxygen in the water corroding steel radiators to form magnetite which becomes water-borne and then deposits in pumps and valves. Even a small amount of sludge can have a significantly impact on the overall heating system performance and reduce component lifespan.
The new Scalemaster i-Mag Sludge Filter provides an easy and effective way of removing iron oxide suspended in the heating system water. Using knowhow from developing magnetic products to prevent limescale in water heating applications over the last 25 years, Scalemaster has developed a unit in which the magnet is orientated to enhance the capture and storage of sludge within the vessel.
The removal of sludge helps maintain the system at peak efficiency and performance, reducing heating bills and protecting vulnerable components, such a pumps and valves.
The unique isolating valve makes the filter easy to install, maintain and empty out, and the detachable bowl makes it easy to dose the heating system with chemicals – which can be carried out in ‘one shot’ with the Scalemaster Gold range of products in 250ml bottles. A bleed screw on the top allows all air to be bled from the system after dosing.
The unit is manufactured from stainless steel and incorporates two water-tight seals to ensure long-term performance without leaks. With no plastic threads, potential problems from cross-threading are eliminated. The product comes complete with a 5 year full manufacturer’s warranty.
