On 22 August, a team of 10 representing Saniflo walked to the top of the UK’s highest mountain Ben Nevis in Scotland to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. The team completed the 1,344-metre/10 mile hike in six hours and raised £10,000 for the charity, beating their original target of £5,000.
The team included employees from all areas of the company and each of them had an individual sponsor target of £100. Saniflo also invited customers, suppliers, colleagues, family and friends to support the endeavor via the Saniflo Just Giving Page at http://www.justgiving.com/Saniflo-Ltd-Ben-Nevis.
Saniflo UK managing director Tim Pestell comments: “Raising £10,000 for Cancer Research UK is a great achievement. I’d like to thank everyone who sponsored us. We had a great time walking Ben Nevis although it was very grueling at times due to the rocky terrain, our varying fitness levels and the mist that shrouded us as we got towards the top. There were no injuries, just a few aching limbs at the end of it. Now we’re looking forward to presenting the money to Cancer Research UK and knowing that the funds will be put to great use.”
About Ben Nevis
Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in the British Isles. Standing at 1,344 metres above sea level, it is located at the western end of the Grampian Mountain in the Lochaber area of the Scottish Highlands close to the town of Fort William.
The mountain is a popular destination attracting an estimated 100,000 ascents a year,[ around three-quarters of which use the Pony Path from Glen Nevis. The 700-metre cliffs of the north face are among the highest in the United Kingdom, providing classic scrambles and rock climbs of all difficulties for climbers and mountaineers. They are also the principal locations in the UK for ice climbing.
