Seventy Saniplus in Scarborough The Grand Hotel in Scarborough is a Grade II listed building, and on its completion in 1867, it was one of the largest hotels in the world. It originally had 365 bedrooms; one for every day of the year, and was built in a 'V' formation in honour of Queen Victoria.
t has recently under gone a £7 million renovation programme. Adding ensuite facilities to all bedrooms within this old building was hampered by the lack of access to traditional gravity drainage and the strict regulations imposed by the property's listed status. To overcome this problem, seventy Saniplus units were installed to service the en-suite bathrooms, many containing luxurious spa baths. Also, to supplement the existing bedrooms, an old bar and cellar space has been recently converted to provide additional guest rooms.
The Perfect Solution Tabley House, Cheshire is an 18th century Palladian country house, now home to a furniture and art museum and nursing home. A listed building, the home offers 15 stately bedroom suites with high ceilings sited on the first floor above the Museum.
During a recent upgrade it was decided that four bedroom suites should be converted into wet rooms. It was essential to make sure the rooms were watertight to protect the museum below.
Four Sanicubics were installed to pump the waste water from these ensuites up 9m into the attic space where the 50mm discharge would then empty into a 4" header pipe and into the nearest existing soil pipe.
The perfect solution for everyone concerned! En-Suites for Belmont Castle Regulations regarding individual bathroom and toilet requirements in care homes created many problems for residential facilities throughout the UK.
The Saniflo range of small-bore systems overcomes the difficulties associated with traditional gravity plumbing and has enabled care homes to comply with the legal requirements.
Belmont Castle, Bedhampton, has had eight Saniflo small-bore systems installed in the old part of the building, which resembles a castle.
Georgian Basement Upgrade Abbots House Hotel, Leith, near Edinburgh, has 32 bedrooms, some of which are ensuites. Waste water from eight en-suites needed to be pumped from the basement to ground level drains. The Sanipro macerator pump that enables you to install a WC and shower was recommended and installed. Brighton Home Improvement “Doing it the Saniflo way is so much neater and tidier. There are no visible pipes at all.” In a Brighton terraced house, a Sanitop unit, serving the washbasin and WC, has been fitted behind a partition wall and is completely concealed. Waste is transported vertically so that it travels over the sloping ceiling and down the other side, to join an internal soil stack at the back.
With a shower also tucked into the tiny roof space, a SaniShower unit solves the problem by taking the waste water and pumping it horizontally so that it feeds into the Sanitop. Care Home Comfort Hillfield Care Centre in Newcastle Upon Tyne decided to upgrade residents’ room facilities by adding en-suites. The existing Bison beam floor construction would not easily permit new 4" soil pipes to be passed through them.
On site surveys revealed that existing solvent weld waste pipes could be adapted to carry the waste and foul water products down to the ground floor soil pipes which in turn connected to the existing external drainage. A total of 25 Saniflo / Sanitop units were required to power waste and water away from the en-suite facilities.
