Sales programme for iconic Battersea Power Station site gathers speed

The sales launch of the ambitious redevelopment of the iconic Battersea Power Station site has been brought forward to January 10, 2013 after confirmation of the Northern Line underground extension generated increased demand.

The Phase One application was submitted in accordance with the Rafael Viñoly masterplan, which received outline Planning Consent in August 2011.

The London Borough of Wandsworth has approved the Reserved Matters planning application in relation to Phase One and sales exhibitions will take place from January 10 and around the world will follow in the coming weeks.

Rob Tincknell, Chief Executive Officer of Battersea Power Station Development Company, commented: “We are absolutely delighted that we have the green light on the detailed planning permission for the first phase of Battersea Power Station.

"In the wake of the announcement by the UK government to support the extension of the Northern Line underground line to Battersea and Nine Elms, we have seen a new rush of interest in the development from potential purchasers. It is incredibly exciting for us that we will be selling residential units off plan next month.”

The first phase of the development will include over 800 contemporary residential apartments, with unparalleled views of the River Thames, and will see the start of the complete regeneration of the Power Station, the largest brick building in Europe and one of the most significant surviving examples of Art Deco architecture.

The site will also provide large areas of public open space as well as the opening up of the six acre riverside walk, providing access to Battersea Park and Chelsea via the River Thames Walk.

In the Autumn Statement delivered on 5th December, the Chancellor of the Exchequer confirmed the UK government’s support for a £1 billion loan and a guarantee to extend the Northern Line to Nine Elms and Battersea Power Station.
