Exhibition & Webinar Tue, Mar 22, 2016 4:59 PM
Leading international construction materials company Saint-Gobain is set to take centre stage at Ecobuild 2012 with a major attraction demonstrating the benefits of a fabric first approach to construction, as well as a 225m² stand showcasing the comprehensive range of solutions and expertise available from its UK businesses.
Billed as one of Ecobuild’s must-see attractions, the Fabric First area (N562) will host a series of live demonstrations using existing construction materials, highlighting some of the technical challenges that must be overcome in order to meet current and future legislative requirements.
Demonstrations will feature a variety of construction types, including masonry and timber frame walls and roofing constructions. They will address important issues such as thermal bridging, air tightness and moisture management, providing visitors with practical guidance and expert knowledge to help them meet 2013 Building Regulations, as well as the more stringent Fabric Energy Efficiency Standard (FEES) set out in the 2016 zero carbon homes policy.
The Fabric First area will include an ‘Ask the Experts’ helpdesk hosted by Saint-Gobain Isover, Weber, British Gypsum and Pasquill, while specialists from Saint-Gobain’s UK businesses will be on the corporate stand (N310) throughout the exhibition to provide technical advice and answer any queries from visitors.
Systems displayed on the corporate stand will include internal, separating and external wall systems for timber, steel and masonry new build and refurbishment construction, room-in-the-roof and ceiling solutions, as well as glazing and pipe products for both residential and commercial applications. These will demonstrate how technologies from the company’s UK businesses, which include Saint-Gobain Abrasives, Saint-Gobain Glass, British Gypsum, Ecophon, Saint-Gobain Isover, Saint-Gobain PAM, Pasquill, Solaglas, Saint-Gobain Solar and Weber, can be used alongside each other to create more energy efficient buildings.
The company is also using Ecobuild as a platform to launch its new Zero Carbon Homes Fabric Solution and Education Sector Guides, which provide an invaluable reference for customers and highlight Saint-Gobain’s capabilities when it comes to meeting requirements in these key areas. It will also be unveiling a new Best Practice Guide to Timber Frame, developed in association with the Zero Carbon Hub and the UK Timber Frame Association.
