Eltham Hill Technology College was one of five schools transformed by the London Borough of Greenwich as part of Building Schools for the Future.
The project was 80% new build and 20% refurbishment. The new build involved the provision of a learning resource centre, teaching rooms, dining amenities, suites for ICT, music and drama plus new sports facilities.
The flooring division of Cemplas Waterproofing and Concrete Repairs Ltd was contracted by Balfour Beatty to install and lay a RonaScreed 8 Day Overlay Fast Drying Screed to floors within the school.
RonaScreed 8 Day Overlay is ideal for fast-track projects where early access is required and is therefore suitable for education, commercial, hospital, retail and domestic projects. It is frequently used as a floating screed on insulation boards and on underfloor heating when it’s fast drying and good early strength gain allows early commissioning of heating systems.
The prepared screed can be pumped to the point of application as was the case at Eltham School, where Cemplas pumped the screed onto the floors in Blocks A and B using a Putzmeister 760 Screed Pump.
Adding Ronascreed 8 Day Overlay to a screed enables earlier access by following trades and reduces drying time. Screeds can be laid later in the construction program, reducing likely damage by following trades and saving unexpected bills for surface DPMs.
