M.R. Site Services has just completed the weatherproof sealing of roof windows, vents, flues and sun pipes at the new Cleddau Reach primary school at Llangwm, near Haverfordwest. The new £6 million school building project provides high quality modern school buildings to house the pupils of the amalgamated Llangwm and Burton VC schools.
Working with roofing contractors Coverstructures South West Ltd., M.R. Site Services used its innovative Roll-A-Flex product as a fully reinforced waterproofing system to seal all the penetrations in the building's steel roof. There were some 87 roof windows to seal as well as some 20 other penetrations such as wind catchers, soil and vent pipes, boiler flues and sun pipes.
The school building project was one of the first schemes conducted by M.R. Site Services under its approval on the TATA Platinum scheme. In addition to Roll-A-Flex, M.R. Site Services are now approved and specified by TATA for its Quantum walkways and handrail systems, access hatches and solar panel systems. Coverstructures South West Ltd. has been delighted with the results as Senior Contracts Manager, James Seviour explained, "We have worked with M.R. Site Services before and know them to be extremely flexible and better on price too. They worked on design and drawings as well as installation and together we achieved a superior result".
David Arden, Technical Services Manager at TATA added, "The Roll-A-Flex system used is approved by us and is an ideal and long lasting solution for the weathering of penetrations in roofs which is sometimes an awkward problem". He continued, "We are very pleased to welcome M.R. Site Services onto the TATA Platinum scheme".
The eight week project was quite challenging for M.R. Site Services in the wettest summer for 100 years, as weathered upstands had to be fitted before the roof windows were installed, followed by final weather sealing afterwards. Indeed the company made special metal upstand frames for the VELUX roof windows. Adrian Baylis of VELUX commented "M.R. Site Services did a first rate job in achieving the right weatherproof fit. I was also very impressed with the speed of the installation".
Roll-A-Flex from M.R. Site Services provides the perfect alternative to welded joints when welding joints is impractical, and is ideal for roofing contractors, building maintenance companies and owner-occupiers.
Roll-A-Flex comprises a liquid applied acrylic membrane applied in two coats with a polyester fleece reinforced layer to create a long-lasting weather-tight seal. It is quick to apply and extremely versatile as it can be used on most types of roofing material profile or surface finish from extruded or formed aluminium to steel, concrete and even wood.
It is particularly suitable for difficult areas such as hips and valleys and for a vast range of details including soakers and openings.
As a cold applied material, Roll-A-Flex poses no risk of fire to roof insulation materials and is fast curing being rainproof after just 30 minutes. Tough and seamless it offers first class fire resistance and meets appropriate UK and European construction standards. It is also resistant to flexural fatigue and can be painted if required to match or complement existing roof materials.
Roll-A-Flex is fully warranted and is applied by M.R. Site Services' own skilled, qualified and fully insured engineers.
