ROCKWOOL NAMES THE GLAZE PROSTATE CHARITY AS ITS 'CHARITY OF THE YEAR' FOR 2012

Rockwool, the world's leading manufacturer of stone wool insulation, has presented a cheque for £2,000 to Glaze Prostate Charity, Wales after company employees voted to make it Rockwool's Charity of the Year.

Of the twelve charities put forward this year by Rockwool employees, Glaze was nominated as the most popular cause. The charity works to raise awareness and promote understanding of prostate diseases, together with raising funds for the latest equipment and training healthcare professionals.

The charity was nominated by Tim Vincent at Rockwool, who presented the cheque to Ray Murray and Andy Thomas of Glaze at a ceremony in February.

Paula Bateman at Rockwool said: "Rockwool is delighted to present this cheque to the Glaze. The Charity of the Year programme generates great enthusiasm around the plant as it is the employees that decide which charity is chosen and who the donation will benefit."

"Rockwool is a business that has a strong sense of its role in the local community and we believe that we have a responsibility and an obligation to give back to the region. Our support this year of Glaze underlines this core belief."

Ray Murray at Glaze thanked the staff at Rockwool for their donation,  "This generous donation will go towards funding the centre of excellence for Green Light Laser treatment at the Princess of Wales Hospital Bridgend and maintaining the quality of the equipment at the centre in general. It is thanks to donations like this that the hospital is able to maintain its status as one of only three eminent teaching units in Europe."

Each year Rockwool employees choose the company's Charity of the Year as part of its ongoing dedication to charitable causes. Rockwool is proud to contribute and provide financial support to both local and national charities.
