Kitchen manufacturer produces five million units

Rixonway Kitchens, one of the leading manufacturers working in affordable and social housing, has notched up an impressive achievement with the production of its five millionth unit.
Significant capital investment in machinery and the expansion of its manufacturing facility has doubled capacity with 70 percent of the overall units being produced in the last ten years. Today the company delivers in excess of 12,000 rigid units a week from its hi-tech, 175,000sq ft plant at Dewsbury in West Yorkshire.
Sales and Marketing Director David Anderson said:
“We have a record of consistently introducing innovations and improving our service provision and are able to offer our clients seven to 11 day delivery on orders. Further, we now have an ‘on-time in-full’ delivery record of 98 percent of which we’re incredibly proud.”
The introduction of ‘Plot Bags’ containing handles and other fittings has further improved the efficiency and speed of delivery as all the parts for an order - including the various manufactured units - are now gathered and assigned a single reference code related to a specific address.
Anderson continues: “Since 2002 Rixonway has invested heavily in its IT services, including the creation of the X-net management system, a secure on-line portal for both clients and contractors to access a range of business information, which has contributed to the significant production milestone.”
The Call Off Manager, a brand new addition to the X-net system, allows clients and contractors greater control over their orders. They can now log in and view priced kitchen designs removing the delay in waiting for a quotation prior to placing an order. Once the order is placed, clients can then track their unique production and delivery schedule online, greatly reducing time and administration costs.
The on-line portal offers greater client flexibility as colour choices can be altered up to the point of the order book closing and delivery dates can be dictated by the customer. Contractors can manage their warehouse capacity by controlling delivery dates online. The delivery process is further simplified with an automated purchase order and manufacture commencement system.
Further service provisions have ensured Rixonway remains a leader in the industry. Serious about reducing its environmental impact Rixonway has consolidated all its waste management requirements, allowing it to confidently claim that no waste from the plant goes to landfill. Further, Rixonway has become the largest organisation in the UK to install the Dust Control Systems ‘Ecogate System’, dramatically reducing its carbon footprint.
