Revitaglaze reduces stained glass sunrays

Window filming and glass refurbishment specialist, Revitaglaze, has eliminated the need for expensive glass replacement at St James Church, Reading.

The church, which features beautiful stained glass windows, required a solution to reduce the overbearing glare from the sunlight, without forfeiting natural light ingress. Revitaglaze window film offered a quick and cost effective solution that successfully reduced the amount of sunrays entering the building, whilst maintaining good light levels.

St James Church required a practical solution that not only resolved the lighting issues, but also ensured the aesthetics of the historic building would not be harmed. The professionally fitted, virtually invisible window film from Revitaglaze offers UV protection and diffuses the full spectrum of sunlight with glare reduction, whilst ensuring the aesthetics of the stained glass windows is unaffected.

Revitaglaze’s window film application offers a choice of finishes that can diffuse or focus light, or even block it entirely. The specially designed film eliminates the need for expensive glass replacement, or can overcome a variety of challenging applications where blinds are not a suitable solution. Revitaglaze’s solution successfully improves occupant comfort by rejecting high levels of solar infrared heat.

“Not only did the solar irradiation make conditions uncomfortable inside the church, the congregation facing the altar found it difficult to focus on the priest due to the overbearing glare from the stained glass windows behind, but UV degradation was also affecting the historic interior as well”, explains Martin Eggleton from Claude Fenton.

“We turned to Revitaglaze due to the swift installation service provided and the expertise of its professionally trained staff. After a local Revitaglaze representative visited the site to meet with the architect, the installation team has provided a quick installation service, sympathetic to the historic nature of the windows, with stunning results.”
