Polypipe Civils recently competed alongside 66 other yachts in the 2011 Polypipe Regatta, which was held in Port Solent, Portsmouth to raise £10k for charity.
The Polypipe Regatta is one of the largest privately organised regatta events held in the UK, and this year it drew over 700 people from across the Polypipe Group and its associates for a day of friendly but competitive racing. Despite a complete lack of breeze, which made racing almost impossible, all participants enjoyed a day of relaxation on a calm sea in balmy temperatures.
Now in its 13th year, the Polypipe Regatta continues to raise money for good causes. In addition to the sailing event, a charity raffle, silent auction and donations from the day raised a total of £10k. All funds will be shared between the British Heart Foundation (as part of the Polypipe Run campaign) and also John Merricks Sailing Trust, which was set-up following the death of 1996 Olympic Silver Medallist John Merricks to help young sailors achieve their goals.
