Pegler Yorkshire, renowned for the manufacturing of quality products for the plumbing and heating industries has struck a chord with a talented music student who has utilised the company’s products to create a new musical instrument.
The Peglerphone a unique percussion instrument was designed and created by Stefan Tooke, a Sheffield based award winning metal worker using various Pegler Yorkshire products from pipes to fittings. The instrument has become the centre piece of a musical orchestration, an innovative project engineered by Doncaster musician Rebecca McChrystal.
“We commend Rebecca for her innovative approach to her musical studies and are pleased that we have been able to support her in some way,” said Phill Jackson, marketing director Pegler Yorkshire. “We are committed to supporting the local communities particularly in the location of our two manufacturing facilities, Doncaster and Leeds.”
Rebecca played the one of a kind Peglerphone to over 150 guests at a specially created concert, held within the unique venue of Pegler Yorkshire in Doncaster.
“I am thrilled that Pegler Yorkshire has allowed me this wonderful opportunity to exhibit how music does not have to conform to usual expectations,” said Rebecca.
“It will add a dimension of mystery and intrigue, firmly cementing the holistic partnership between industry and music, and thereby raise the awareness of music service in the region and nationally.”
Rebecca, was supported by soprano saxophonist and composer Charlotte Harding RCM BMus (Hons) and Royal College of Music graduate Daniel Saleeb who was creator of the musical masterpiece.
