Following the launch of the Government’s energy efficiency scheme, the Green Deal, the National Insulation Association (NIA) is calling for householders to take advantage of the scheme in ensuring they benefit from home insulation.
The Green Deal is the Governments new initiative to transform Britain’s existing non efficient housing stock. The scheme will give people the opportunity of upgrading their homes by paying for energy efficient home improvements with the savings on their energy bills with no upfront costs.
Neil Marshall, Chief Executive of the NIA, commented: “As the Green Deal goes live we are advising householders to take advantage of what this scheme offers.
"It’s a fact that home insulation is the single most effective method of saving money on their domestic energy bills, with savings continuing year on year. An astounding 60% of your homes heat could be escaping escape through uninsulated walls and roofs; the Energy Saving Trust report that by simply installing cavity wall and loft insulation savings of up to £310 per year can be made. The savings are even greater for insulating solid walls and lofts up to £635 per year.”
Speaking about the Green Deal Cashback scheme Marshall added: “Households can fund improvements through a Green Deal Plan and qualify for hundreds of pounds of cashback. The more improvements a householder makes, the bigger the cashback.”
Householders are advised to contact an NIA member who can advise them on the most appropriate and efficient method possible of insulating their home.
