One of the largest condensing boilers on the market offers high wet central heating users reduced costs and improved efficiency thanks to low water resistance and stainless steel surfaces.
Viessmann has launched a new model to its line of Vitocrossal 300 gas-condensing commercial boilers, for heat outputs ranging from 787 to 1400 kW. The Vitocrossal 300 is perfect for systems with large water volumes such as district heating networks, schools and hospitals and other buildings with large radiator coverage or underfloor heating systems. The boiler’s open water ways and doubled output within a single unit (over the previous model) negates the need to purchase cascade / add multiple products. The Vitocrossal is also less expensive to install and maintain and offers estimated savings in running costs of approximately £2,300 per year compared to the operation of two 311 kW Vitocrossal boilers, or their equivalent.
The Vitocrossal’s output makes it one of the largest single unit condensing boilers in the UK. Customers will benefit from various technical features including a Viessmann Inox-Crossal heat exchanger and a second return connector.
The Inox-Crossal heat exchanger enables the Vitocrossal 300 to achieve a standard seasonal efficiency of up to 98 per cent. Its stainless steel heating surface is designed specifically for condensing technology, allowing condensate to simply run off downwards creating a permanent self-cleaning effect and resulting in a longer service life whilst reducing maintenance effort. Unlike boilers with aluminium heat exchangers or low water content, the Vitocrossal 300 has no minimum flow rate. Not only does this make the product an ideal solution for older heating systems, where filters and strainers often fail to remove fine particulates, but it also means the boiler is not reliant on electricity-consuming primary shunt pumps and low loss headers.
The Vitocrossal 300 system also includes a second return connector for low return temperature, down to 30°C, resulting in an impressive utilisation of condensing technology. As such, the boiler operates at the lower condensing output temperature, allowing the water returning to the boiler to be significantly lower than the dew point of gas (57°C). The system can then extract the latent heat in the water vapour of the combustion gases in the flue, producing condensate and increasing its efficiency markedly.
The Vitocrossal 300 is available for UK installation now.
