Sill, renowned for both its optics and engineering, created huge interest at Light + Building 2012 in Frankfurt, with the launch of its stunning Gobo projector system. The Sill Gobo moves the boundaries forward by combining in a good looking IP65 body, 400W HID capability and the use of both stainless steel gobos, glass gobos, filters and framing shutters.
The heart of the projector is the use of either a 250W HCI-T G22 lamp, in which case the control gear is integral, or a 400W HCI-T G22 lamp with integral ignitor and remote gear. Both lamps give high lumen packages, long life, stable colour and, via adjustment screws, can be easily focused.
Concept designed by Yves Adrien, Paris & Montreal, the Sill Gobo accepts industry standard 86mm gobos in either stainless steel or glass, but with the advantage of using a wide 75mm aperture. Focal lengths can be adjusted between 107mm and 238mm, to give the user control over image size. Framing shutters, used with or without a gobo, allow precise cropping of the illuminated area, whilst the use of glass gobos with colour images open up even greater possibilities.
The cut away model on the Sill stand showing the optic system attracted much attention from visitors for the entire 6 days of the show and samples of the production-ready projector will soon be available to Sill's major markets worldwide, so allowing lighting designers to investigate their potential.
