Kingspan Tarec is offering specifiers even greater freedom and flexibility with the latest developments in its premium performance Kooltherm FM Pipe Insulation.
The market leading manufacturer has introduced slotted board technology to complement its award winning continuous pipeline manufacture process, creating a range of fully bore coated products for pipe sizes from 15 to 610 mm. An architectural, ‘Theatre Black’ facing option has also been launched, providing an ideal alternative for exposed to view applications.
With thermal conductivities as low as 0.025 W/m•K, Kooltherm FM Pipe Insulation is able to meet the thermal performance requirements of each application with a minimal thickness. Its unique, passivated bore liner is installed in both production processes and helps to negate the risk posed by surface moisture in the event of a joint or fittings failure. The slotted board manufacturing process also minimises waste from offcuts which can account for up to 40% of the insulation material in traditional, cut from block production.
The new ‘Theatre Black’ facing offers a solution for pipework applications where a muted or low reflective finish is desired. The high emissivity facing can also reduce the product thickness required in cold and chilled applications. All Kooltherm FM Pipe Insulation facings are factory-applied to avoid onsite application, maintaining the integrity of the system. This can also reduce the labour cost for installation of the Kooltherm FM Pipe Insulation System when compared to a painted finish.7
In addition, Kooltherm FM Pipe Insulation delivers outstanding fire and smoke performance. The CE Marked product holds a European fire classification of BL-s1,d0, is FM Approved to Approval Standard 4924 and has a Flame Spread Index of ≤ 25 when tested to ASTM E 84, achieving Class A.
