NHBC Building Control Services is pleased to announce that Michael Black has been appointed as its new chairman this week.
Now in its 27th year, NHBC Building Control Services is the largest Approved Inspector of Building Control in England and Wales, with 64% of all warranties issued by NHBC now incorporating Building Control.
Speaking about his appointment, Michael Black, the Group Development Director at Bovis Homes, said: “I am delighted to be appointed as the new chairman for NHBC Building Control Services. The business has expanded considerably in recent years in the face of challenging economic times and now offers an unrivalled, comprehensive building control service for all new building projects.
“It is my aim to help the business develop further whilst enhancing its strategic support to the industry and customers.”
Michael takes over the position from Mike Freshney, who has held the position since 2004. Over the last eight years, Mike helped to oversee the transformation from residential properties only, to a full service provider for customers, including commercial properties.
Evaluating his tenure as chairman, Mike said: “In the eight years as Chairman from 2004 the house-building industry has experienced hugely contrasting periods; from the industry peak of 2006/2007 through to these more difficult times.
“During this period we have continued to provide a high standard of service to customers whilst diversifying into the commercial sector, expanding our range of services and strengthening our commitment to the industry, despite the recession.
“In summary it has been an enjoyable and challenging time and I would like to wish Michael every success, and the company continuing growth and excellence in its service to its customers.”
