NEPTUNUS HELPS COLLEGE ACCOMMODATE INCREASED STUDENT NUMBERS

After a substantial increase in student intake led to a shortfall in its sports facilities, Den Hulster College in Venlo, the Netherlands, turned to temporary structures specialist, Neptunus to provide a gymnasium to accommodate the additional numbers.

The College ruled out a costly and lengthy construction project, concluding that a temporary structure would provide the increased capacity it required, in the quickest and most cost effective way possible.

Neptunus installed a semi-permanent 400sq m Evolution structure in just 15 days and with the minimum of disruption to the College’s timetable. The fully re-locatable structure is complete with lighting, heating, ventilation, changing rooms and a specially manufactured sports floor.

Based on a highly innovative and technical design with durable components, the Neptunus Evolution is practically indistinguishable from a permanent building and will remain in place for at least five years, after which Den Hulster will review whether its requirement for extra capacity is still justified.

Neptunus’ UK managing director, April Trasler, comments: “With temporary structures just as easy to dismantle as they are to erect, they provide complete flexibility for schools as they can be supplied and returned in line with fluctuating student numbers.

“They also enable schools to continue with timetables unaffected during refurbishment or expansion projects, whilst also providing a safe and comfortable environment for children and staff, out of sight of any construction work.”

Particularly suitable for sports and leisure applications, the Neptunus Evolution is the most technologically advanced and versatile temporary structure available in today’s market. Based on a highly technical and innovative design with durable components, the structure has similar properties to a permanent building.

Readily available and quick to assemble, temporary structures provide a highly cost-effective solution for sports, health and leisure centre operators embarking on expansion, renovation or improvement or whenever extra space is needed.

With a range of flexible hire, lease and purchase packages, which can be combined and tailored to individual requirements, Neptunus’ fully relocatable structures can also be used to market test new locations to help determine whether a facility would attract new members. Or in the event of a disaster such as a fire or flood, Neptunus can supply structures from stock on a rolling contract, helping customers through the recovery.

Available in 10 - 60m clear span widths, unlimited lengths and sidewall heights up to 13m, the Evolution provides ample space for a wide range of sports. The structure also comes with insulated rigid wall panels and roof options that reduce emissions. The range of optional features includes doors, windows, internal walls, mezzanine floors and staircases, all of which make it difficult to distinguish from a permanent building.

Externally the structure can be branded with company logos and the wall panels come in a range of colours to either blend in with the surroundings or make a statement.

Neptunus also provides turnkey packages including the entire fit-out of the sports hall including flooring, lighting, heating and ventilation and security systems.

In addition to the facilities at Papendal, Neptunus has recently provided temporary sports hall solutions to Esporta Health Club following a fire, Cranfield University during a refurbishment project and the Defence Academy’s military staff training college in Shrivenham while it underwent expansion.
