Impressive form and function
London, 21 April 2010 – With the new M521 LCD Public Display, NEC Display Solutions is now launching the largest model in the Multeos series. The 52” monitor with full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) combines the attractive design of a TV set with the reliability of professional digital signage displays. It is therefore ideal for use in areas with sophisticated interior design, such as in hotels and restaurants, reception and waiting areas, fitness studios or conference rooms. A raft of configuration and connectivity options ensures seamless integration of the display into any technical environment.
“Content is king” is a popular digital signage slogan. However, in a stylish environment, the design as well as the overall concept has a major role to play, too. Purely on the basis of appearance criteria, TV sets generally are superior to public displays. In long-term use on the other hand, large-format LCD displays with professional panels deliver significantly higher performance and longevity along with a three year on site service, unmatched by consumer TV products. The new NEC Multeos M521 is a professional display that combines TV design with reliability and flexibility. The integrated option slot accommodates for example, a media player maintaining the sleek look of the monitor without any unsightly cable connections or additional PCs. Options such as the media player enables self-created content to be displayed thus significantly extending the range of possible uses for the M521. A restaurant, for instance, can display daily menus or ‘specials’ before and after screening a football match.
Other professional features in the Multeos series include optional rear-mounted loudspeakers that deliver an excellent sound experience but are invisible to the onlooker. The built-in ambient light sensor measures lighting conditions and ensures that the display brightness and power consumption do not exceed the level actually required. The Ethernet connection and free LAN software facilitate network integration and therefore the remote control and monitoring of the displays. User controllable fans, which are only needed at ambient temperatures above 40°C ensure perfect ventilation and trouble free operation. With DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI, VGA, and all standard analogue video interfaces the M521 supports connections for all signal sources. Different inputs can even be combined for picture-in-picture effects.
Availability and price
The NEC Multeos M521 is available now. The recommended retail price is £2,189 (excluding VAT). NEC Display Solutions Europe offers a three-year warranty including backlights.
