The Mineral Wool Insulation Manufacturers Association (MIMA) has completed the transformation from its previous name Eurisol, with the launch of a new, improved website. As an authoritative source of information on stone and glass mineral wool, the new site will play an important role in MIMA’s mission to raise the profile of mineral wool insulation.
Regulatory changes and the introduction of initiatives such as the Code for Sustainable Homes and the new Green Deal are contributing to an unprecedented focus on insulation and its value in delivering cost-effective carbon reduction. MIMA therefore plays a valuable role in highlighting the abilities of mineral wool insulation to meet the increasing thermal, fire, acoustic and environmental performance requirements of new and existing buildings in the UK.
“The website is a fantastic new tool for those wanting to find out more on the benefits of mineral wool insulation and the contribution it makes to a building’s construction, the comfort of its occupants and its overall reduction in energy usage and CO2 emissions,” said Hans Schreuder, Chairman of the Association. “Mineral wool in particular offers unparalleled ‘4-benefits-in-one’ products, able to meet ever more testing demands, both during use and when its whole-life impact on the environment in assessed.
“The new site will answer many of the questions visitors might have, with practical guidance and links to the association members’ sites. The recent re-brand from Eurisol to MIMA aims to communicate a clearer direction and vision for the association and the website is very much a part of that, as it offers a faster and more accessible way of providing help and guidance to those that need to specify insulation.”
The easily navigated site contains an overview of relevant legislation and the application of mineral wool within a wide range of constructions, with sections covering walls, floors, roofs and HVAC. In addition, the site contains information about the new requirements under Part L of the building regulations, as well as research conducted by MIMA which proves that the thermal performance of party walls can be significantly improved by insulating with mineral wool.
