The pioneering British company that became the world’s first manufacturer of gutter-lining is establishing a burgeoning market in the logistics sector, as an increasing number of firms in the industry recognise the importance of a reliable gutter-lining system as a wise long-term investment.
As family-run HD Sharman celebrates 30 years of its exclusive market-leading patented system, Plygene Gutterline, the firm is undertaking projects for logistics companies such as DHL, TNT and Eddie Stobbart.
A growing quantity of logistics firms are approaching Derbyshire-based HD Sharman, attracted by Gutterline’s status as the only product of its type to be approved by the UK's major construction authority, the British Board of Agrement, and by its 20 year guarantee.
Said managing director, Mark Rozarieux: “Over the last 30 years, HD Sharman has undertaken Gutterline projects across a wide range of sectors, from industrial, commercial, government and public sector, to housing and agriculture, and we’re delighted to be enjoying a boom in logistics.
“Our new logistics customers recognise the importance of investing in a gutter-lining system that is hard-wearing and reliable, precluding the need for costly and inconvenient repairs in future.
“We look forward to working closely with more companies within this exciting sector, keeping pace with evolving market demand and developing our products and services accordingly.”
In 2013 alone, HD Sharman delivered guttering solutions to over 500 customers across more than 1000 projects. It also launched product-specific quick response (QR) codes, enabling those installing its products to easily access the necessary information via any internet-enabled device while on site. The company is currently piloting an on-line quotation system designed to save on the time involved in the traditional “print and fax” method.
Said Mark: “Customers in the distribution sector are also benefitting from the exemplary customer service on which we have built our reputation, and also from the free training and support we offer their contractors to ensure that our products are correctly installed.”
Plygene Gutterline creates a waterproof gutter within a gutter, leaving the original structure untouched, eliminating the need for structural work. Pliable enough to mould to any gutter, regardless of structure, age or material, Plygene Gutterline can tolerate changes in temperature and building movement without splitting.
