Lime Technology shortlisted for award

Continuing its industry awards success of 2013, Oxford-based Lime Technology Group - pioneers and market leaders in the development of innovative, low carbon and sustainable building systems and lime-based building products – has been shortlisted for the prestigious 2014 Ashden Awards.

Established in 2001, the Awards serve to uncover and champion the most exciting low-carbon enterprises and programmes in the UK and developing world; ones that cut carbon, protect the environment, help reduce poverty and improve people’s lives.

Joining 61 green energy organisations and programmes from 17 countries, Lime Technology’s entry, which centres on its pioneering, sustainable, innovative and - is one of 16 singled out within the UK Ashden Awards category.

Commenting on this latest acknowledgement of Lime Technologies developing role within the low-carbon and offsite construction sector, Chief Executive Phil Key said: “We are delighted to have kick-started 2014 in such buoyant fashion. Hembuild and Hemclad attracted a great deal of interest last year, having scooped top spot in both the Museums & Heritage and Greenbuild Awards. Both of these centred on the exciting work our offsite construction arm, Hemcrete Projects, has been involved in with Marks & Spencer and the Science Museum."

The Ashden Awards will be presented at a ceremony at the Royal Geographical Society in London on 22 May. The ceremony will be hosted for the second year running by broadcaster and cultural commentator Emma Freud.

Hembuild is an offsite, structural panellised building system that incorporates a thermally efficient, double stud structural frame and breathable vapour control layer to create an airtight building envelope (typically below 3m3/m2/hr at 50Pa, but can be as low as 0.6 – subject to choice of windows/doors and services). Suitable for one to three storey buildings, Hembuild can be supplied in a range of U-values from 0.11 to 0.19 W/m2K, used to meet high levels of the code for sustainable homes and BREEAM for a wide range of buildings, such as schools and commercial developments.

Hemclad is a cost-effective, sustainable and thermally efficient wall panel system that is based on Hembuildâ, but used in larger buildings having a primary structural frame. It combines Tradical Hemcrete and Breathe within a thermally efficient, double stud timber cassette to provide proven advantages over traditional composite panels. Available in cassette sizes to suit bespoke design requirements, and with U-values ranging from 0.11 to 0.19 W/m2K, it is an eco-friendly and hassle free system that is perfect for commercial and industrial developments.

Hemcrete Projects has the capability to provide complete super-structure solutions, tailored to meet the needs of architects, designers, contractors and end user clients, covering all aspects of panel design, structural engineering, manufacture and installation on a national basis.
