Specialist industrial coatings supplier, Leighs Paints is now trading as Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings.
Part of The Sherwin-Williams Company’s Global Finishes Group, Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings will continue to manufacture the world-class FIRETEX range of passive fire protection (PFP) products, as it looks to expand its portfolio and grow its presence in markets across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
A worldwide leader in asset protection, Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings provides time-tested, high performance PFP and anti-corrosive coatings solutions to the fire protection, steel, oil and gas and marine sectors, among others. The FIRETEX range of intumescent and insulation coatings offers proven protection against both cellulosic and hydrocarbon pool and jet fires and cryogenic spillage, and have already been used in more than 400 projects around the world.
“Sherwin-Williams and Leighs Paints share many similarities in our history, our culture and our commitment to customer service and, by pooling our resources and expertise, we will continue to develop and deliver innovative coating technologies to support our customers,” comments Gordon Bell, general manager Protective & Marine Coatings (EMEA) at Sherwin-Williams. “Driven by technology, innovation and quality products, the transition to the Sherwin-Williams name was the natural next step in the integration of the two companies.
We are excited about the future and look forward to continuing to provide our customers with outstanding technology, people and assets.”
Based in Bolton, UK, Leighs Paints was acquired by The Sherwin-Williams Company in July 2011. With European sales and technical support centres including sites in the UK, Germany and UAE, Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings currently distributes products across 47 countries worldwide.
Gordon Bell adds: “We delivered quality service for more than 150 years under the Leighs Paints name and remain committed to protecting our customers’ businesses. Our coatings may now be delivered in new packaging, but the quality of product in the can has not changed. Indeed, customers now benefit from the expanded portfolio of Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings and we look forward to entering new markets across EMEA.”
