Denne, part of Bouygues, is pleased to announce it has handed over 17 new affordable homes in the village of Goldhanger, near Maldon, Essex.
Replacing eight prefabricated homes previously on the site, the new properties, which were built on behalf of Moat, are now available for shared ownership and affordable rent.
The 12, two bedroom houses and five, three bedroom houses incorporate a number of sustainable features including super-insulated timber frames, dual flush toilets, flow restrictors and positive pressure ventilation systems. As a result, the development achieved Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3.
The houses are designed to meet Lifetime Homes standards, so that they can be adapted to suit the needs of residents throughout their lives. For example, they have capacity for through-floor lifts to be installed in the future, if required by residents.
The result is an energy efficient, modern development that blends in with the rural surroundings. Five of the homes are being allocated to residents of Goldhanger Parish to meet the specific local housing needs. During construction, the Denne team developed close working relationships with the village community, Goldhanger Parish Council and the local building control officer, which were key to the project’s success.
Andrew Debnam, Head of Development Projects of Moat, said: “At Moat, we try to build homes for life – where our residents can live for the long-term and build sustainable communities. That’s why we’ve been so pleased to work with Denne and Maldon District Council at Maldon Road. The development is energy efficient, adaptable and modern but still manages to fit with the existing neighbourhood.”
Nick Brown, Deputy Managing Director of Denne, said: “We are delighted to have completed these new homes in Goldhanger, near Maldon. For housing schemes like this, our aim is always to work closely with our client and to gain the full support of neighbouring residents for the development.
“We are extremely pleased with the positive local response we have received to this development and we proud to hand over these high quality and affordable homes that will benefit the entire community.”
Cllr Mrs Brenda Harker, Chairman of the Council’s Community Services Committee, said: “It is wonderful to see that five local residents will be able to stay in their parish as part of this scheme, which will help to meet the local housing needs.”
