Latest phase of massive regeneration scheme at Battersea Power Station revealed

Following an overwhelming response from interested buyers, Battersea Power Station Development Company has confirmed the proposed launch dates of its UK and overseas sales programme for Phase One of the development of Battersea Power Station, subject to final planning being approved by Wandsworth Council in December 2012.

In January 2013, the global sales launch will get underway with exhibitions in the UK and Asia. The exhibitions will enable prospective buyers to formalise their interest in purchasing one of the Phase One residential apartments, before construction begins in the second half of 2013.

The UK exhibition is scheduled to take place on the site of Battersea Power Station in an exhibition space, pending the completion of a new riverside marketing suite which is due for completion later in the year.

Rob Tincknell, Chief Executive Officer of Battersea Power Station Development Company, commented: “The response from the UK and around the world since we began accepting registrations of interest in September has been phenomenal. We have been overwhelmed by the numbers of buyers pre registering.

“By setting out the provisional sales schedule we will go into 2013 delivering on the promise we made to London to fully restore Battersea Power Station and to create a new town centre for the city. I am delighted that that it has taken just three months since the purchase of the site to get to where we are today. We are on track to begin construction in the summer and to begin hand over of Phase One to the new owners in 2016.”

The first phase of the development will include 800 contemporary residential apartments, with unparalleled views of the River Thames. It will also include the commencement of regeneration to the Power Station, the largest brick building in Europe and one of the most significant surviving examples of Art Deco architecture.

The site will also provide large areas of public open space as well as the opening up of the riverside walk, providing access to Battersea Park and Chelsea across the River Thames.
