Leading building envelope contractor Lakesmere has been recognised for its impressive work on the Murray Royal Hospital in Perth after triumphing in the Roof Sheeting category at the 2012 Scottish NFRC Awards.
Lakesmere has a rich tradition at the awards after winning the Vertical Cladding category for the past four years and impressed the judges this year with its design, supply and installation of nearly 16,000m2 of Kalzip roofing on over 80 separate roofs at the hospital.
Multiple roof areas were progressed at the same time on a site that also contained the original, still functioning mental health unit. In addition, Lakesmere worked closely with main contractor Morgan Sindall and architects Atkins Ltd to ensure the work came in on time and within budget. Lakesmere’s ability to commit the necessary design, procurement and contracting resources specifically to the project was crucial to its success. Another of Lakesmere’s roof cladding projects, Auchmuty High School, was also nominated.
In the Vertical Cladding category Lakesmere was once again nominated, this time for its stunning work at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.

Winning the roof sheeting category makes all the effort worthwhile and is testament to the hard word and skills of our team.”
The winners of the 2012 Scottish NFRC Awards were announced at a special luncheon in Edinburgh on 2nd November.
