Updated BBA certificate for Knauf Insulation's Polyfoam

As part of its on-going commitment to developing industry leading solutions for inverted roof applications, Knauf Insulation has received an updated British Board of Agrément (BBA) certificate for its Polyfoam ECO Roofboard Extra (incorporating the Polyfoam Slimline system), which now certifies the product for use on zero pitch inverted roofs.

The update is an addendum to the product’s recently awarded BBA certificate, which applied to roofs with a slope between 1:80 and 1:6.

The new certification offers contractors and specifiers the convenience of using one product for all inverted roof applications, whether sloped or zero falls, with the utmost confidence that it is fully approved for both types of construction.  Polyfoam ECO Roofboard Extra also offers the lowest design lambda of any BBA certified inverted roof board.

What’s more, Knauf Insulation’s Polyfoam ECO Roofboard Extra has met all the requirements set out by the BBA under the European Technical Approval Guideline ETAG031 and when combined with the Polyfoam Slimline membrane system it is a highly durable solution that will maintain its integrity for at least the lifetime of the roof membrane.

James Hulbert, Business Development Manager Polyfoam XPS at Knauf Insulation, commented: “We are committed to continuously improving our offer to the inverted roofing market for waterproofing system holders, specifiers and contractors alike.

"We work closely with our customers in order to understand their needs and have acknowledged that they prefer the convenience of using one product across all inverted roof constructions.  Achieving this updated certification was therefore the next logical step for us, ensuring we are able to provide fully tested and accredited solutions for all applications.

“Over the past 18 months we have invested in third party accreditation to ensure that the Polyfoam ECO inverted roof solution not only meets, but exceeds our customers’ expectations.  This revised certificate is a welcome addition to both the recently achieved BBA Certificate and the BRE Certified Green Guide Rating of ‘A’ awarded to Polyfoam ECO in 2012.”

Polyfoam ECO Roofboard Extra and Slimline Membrane have both been successfully tested for use on inverted roofs with a gravel ballast layer, paving slabs or a green roof build up.
