Kermi is celebrating 50 years of product innovation, design and quality dating back to 1960 when the Company was formed by Mr. Kerschl and Mr. Schmidt from whose surnames the name was derived.
Ever since the initial launch of steel oil storage tanks Kermi has practised the business principles of “design and innovation” and having diversified into the areas of heating and bathroom is now one of the leading suppliers of shower enclosures and heating products in Europe. Headquartered in Plattling, Bavaria, the Company employs 1300 people and operates from a 220,000 square foot manufacturing complex.
Developmental landmarks are as follows:
1960 - Heating Oil Storage Tanks
1967 - Production of Steel Panel Radiators
1976 - Introduction of the first Shower Enclosure programme
1987 - Compact radiators with integrated valves launched
1985 - Kermi U.K. Ltd founded
1994 - Credo the original ladder style Towel Radiator launched
2001 - Underfloor Heating programme introduced
2009 - Diga Shower enclosures featuring a foldaway mechanism launched
2010 - Kermi UK launch the Arbonia range of Design Radiators manufactured by sister company Arbonia Forster into the UK marketplace.
During this period Kermi has won a host of Design Awards, including a number of red dot awards and most recently the “Markt-Intern” Competition for Shower Enclosures which they have won four years consecutively.
Celebrating with Kermi were guests from the UK accompanied by Gwynn Smitham the Managing Director of Kermi (UK) who commented:
“Fifty Years of product innovation, design, and quality engineering underwritten with the “Made in Germany” badge of quality, has made Kermi the market leading force it is today. A Half Century – and still batting strongly.
