The UK’s leading manufacturer of ground source heat pumps has added another innovative solution to its award-winning product range for communal dwellings in the shape of the 6kW Shoebox Twin.
Kensa’s latest product is an evolution of the award winning 3kW Shoebox heat pump – and it’s packing some big punches in a small footprint.
The 6kW Twin boasts a greater capacity and heat output than its sibling Shoebox 3kW,but crucially is still capable of being sited within tight spaces inside a dwelling. And through the use of twin compressors delivers domestic space and water heating to larger new build and retrofit well insulated retrofit apartments and medium sized houses.
This small but mighty GSHP offers an impressively low acoustic output, and at 560mm x 605mm x 565mm is a particularly attractive solution where the only option available is to locate the heat pump inside the dwelling, such as within an airing cupboard. Using a single phase electrical connection and the ability to provide water flow temperatures up to 65°C, the Shoebox Twin provides weather compensated space heating flow temperature control, plus the ability to satisfy a dwellings entire domestic hot water requirement without the need for costly supplementary electric back up heating.
Crucially, the Shoebox range provides Housing Associations and developers the unique opportunity to plug into Government subsidies such as the Renewable Heat Incentive and is ideal for use in projects featuring Kensa’s innovative “micro-district heating” approach, which significantly enables access to the lucrative non-Domestic RHI for new build applications, plus the additional possibility to attract an and ECO subsidy in retrofit applications, especially where electric night storage heating systems are being displaced.
Chris Davis, commercial director for Kensa Heat Pumps comments: "The introduction of the Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive and recently uplifted tariffs for ground source heat pumps under the Non Domestic RHI has seen a significant upsurge in the demand for ground source technology, where the benefits of highest efficiency, lowest possible running costs, permitted development planning rights and low noise nuisance are increasingly becoming recognised.
"The Shoebox and Shoebox Twin meet the growing market need for small, efficient, quiet and cost effective solutions which can be applied in innovative ways to maximise the funding opportunities for housing associations, developers and home owners. The original 3kW Shoebox has proven ideal for small, new build developments, however the higher output from the Shoebox Twin now opens up more and more opportunities for larger new builds and the retrofit sector.”
Thanks to its small size and low noise output, the Shoebox Twin has already been specified for installation on a number of retro-fit social housing projects and is also currently being promoted through Kensa’s ‘Underground Network Partners’ scheme, ensuring quality and professional Kensa approved installations.
