A folding/sliding door that delivers exceptional levels of thermal and weathering performance at a considerably modest price has been launched by leading architectural aluminium systems supplier Kawneer.
The AA®3720 uses advanced thermal break technology to deliver the enhanced thermal performance required to meet the stringent requirements of Approved Document L.
Integrated polyamide thermal breaks allow for single and dual colour options while the use of extruded gasket profiles and a drain and ventilate strategy enable the system to achieve its weathering performance.
Kawneer's product development team focused on market demands to produce a door offering aesthetic appeal, especially slim sightlines (by use of offset rollers), simplified fabrication and patented features including a concealed door retainer system, to provide a door with market-leading appeal and performance.
The AA®3720 folding/sliding door is completing a range of stringent laboratory tests carried out by a UKAS accredited testing authority which includes BS EN 6375-1: 2009, BS EN 6375-2: 2009 and BS EN 1627: 2011.
To provide further performance benefits, the addition of simple thermal shields divides the thermal chambers further to improve performance down to 1.0 W/m²K (using 0.7 W/m²K triple glazing and warm edge technology) with minimal additional cost or fabrication.
Kawneer's AA®3720 folding/sliding door is available in a range of open-in or open-out variations for total flexibility in all applications ranging from private and social housing through retail and leisure to commercial. Panel sizes up to 1200mm x 2930mm* achieve solutions in even the most demanding environments.
The AA®3720 will also have a floating corner profile to allow uninterrupted opening around corners. In addition, it will be possible to build frames of greater than 6m in length by the use of an integrated profile connector.
In addition, stainless steel rollers enable smooth and effortless operation while a choice of rebated, low or sunken threshold options offer continuity between internal and external spaces, and add further design flexibility. This is further enhanced by the AA®3720 folding/sliding door complementing Kawneer's AA®720 window series.
