Combating infection in sectors such as health and education is vital and Leaderflush Shapland is continually developing its products to ensure they provide the best anti-bacterial protection.
Its recently launched Hygieniform Eco door facing provides protection against the spread of infection as part of an environmentally-friendly PVC-free solution and is the latest addition to the Hygieniform range of door facings.
Leaderflush Shapland new product development manager, Stephen Hutsby said: “We are always using our research and development expertise and knowledge of the specific needs of buildings such as hospitals to improve our products. Developments in manufacturing have enabled us to offer the same benefits of Hygieniform in a PVC-free version, Hygieniform Eco. It is 100% recyclable which is important to specifiers who are increasingly looking for more environmentally sound products.”
Hygieniform Eco contains no harmful chemicals, such as polybutylene terephthalate (PBTs), halogens or monomers but offers the same anti-bacterial properties as Hygieniform. Leaderflush Shapland’s anti-bacterial additive, Hygienilac, is integrated throughout the material thickness, providing life-long protection against infections even if the material is scratched.
Hygienilac kills 99.9% of bacteria including MRSA, Listeria, Clostridium Difficile and Salmonella, and has passed BS 6250 tests for severe usage. Its active ingredient has approvals from the Food and Drug Administration, Health & Safety Executive and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Hygieniform Eco is currently available in three colours – Lily, Musk and Manta Grey – however Leaderflush Shapland are developing the colour range to match the existing Hygieniform palette of 15 colours and are happy to work with its customers to develop colours which meet their specific needs.
Stephen Hutsby added: “We wanted to create a product that continued to provide powerful protection against infection but also addressed issues around sustainability that are becoming ever more important to architects and contractors. We also wanted Hygieniform Eco to offer colour flexibility to ensure meeting a building’s anti-bacterial and environmental needs doesn’t compromise its design goals.”
Hygieniform Eco is compatible with all Leaderflush Shapland’s performance doorsets ranges: Plasform, Designer and Extended Performance.
