HOUSING SECTOR FACES HOUSE ARREST

There is real concern in the Housing Sector that the latest spending review will create a shortage of homes, according to latest research.

The independent report, commissioned by one of the UK’s leading housing training specialist CragRats, also reveals worries within the sector about other major issues arising from the Coalition Government’s impact on Housing.  Welfare reforms, lack of funding, rental issues and changes in legislation are among those flagged up by many respondents from within the Top 400 Housing Organisations in the UK.

CragRats’ Business Manager, Natalie Poole, said: “We have delivered training into more than 70 Housing Organisations to date and we invested in this research to increase our sector understanding and the current challenges it is facing.”

The research was thoroughly conducted by an independent company and provides detailed information on the current thinking of some of the Top 400 on subjects such as their biggest concerns and training priorities.

“There are many surprises in the report,” added Natalie, “and it really is a worthwhile read for the whole sector.   For us at CragRats, one of the most important revelations was the determination and resolve of almost all the Housing Organisations contacted to maintain their training budgets during the coming year.  That commitment to training is a commitment to continually improving quality of service.”
