The Health and Safety Event, a new national Health and Safety exhibition and conference programme has been launched at the NEC in Birmingham from March 11-13 2014.
The new event will be held at the same time as Maintec, the maintenance, plant and asset management exhibition.
The new event is to be organised by Western Business Exhibitions, which for the past seven years has been responsible for a series of regional health and safety events, including: Health and Safety – South; Health and Safety - North; Health and Safety – Scotland.
The event aims to meet the needs of those visitors that had been visiting the NEC on an annual basis to get their health and safety information, as well as giving visitors to Maintec the opportunity to expand the range of products they can evaluate, experts that they can speak to or seminars that they can attend.
Speaking about the launch, Tim Else, Event Director for The Health and Safety Event said: “The move of the Safety & Health Expo to London leaves a large geographical void for the UK in terms of access to health and safety information. Working with our partners we already bring the health and safety industry to Scotland and the North of England and therefore we now have the opportunity to meet the needs of those not only in the Midlands region but also those who traditionally travel to the NEC to access equipment and service providers and an education programme.”
Matt Benyon, managing director of Maintec organiser, easyFairs UK said: “Many of the major disciplines surrounding maintenance have a direct relationship with health and safety and indeed, we have seen a major growth in the number of exhibitors concerned with hazardous areas at this year’s event. By having Maintec take place at the same time as the inaugural Health and Safety Event gives visitors an even greater experience.”
Visitors to the new national event will have the opportunity to access a range of educational conferences and seminars, all of which are available free of charge. A central platform of the educational programme is the seminars organised by The British Safety Council which address the major topics of the day as legislation and behaviour dictates.
The ability to deliver innovative, interactive activities will also be a feature of the new event such as the “Safety Dialogue’ Live Panel. The Live Panel offers visitors the opportunity to engage with live debates surrounding the most significant issues of the day, alongside recognised experts.
Additionally, Health Risks at Work and their Champions Workshop will also be running and will give visitors the chance to expand their knowledge, network with their local Safety Groups and also give them the opportunity to volunteer to become a Health Risks at Work Champion.
As well as the British Safety Council conference program there are other, more practical, seminars taking place across the three day event. Visitors will be able to see vendors and event partners such as 3M and NQA host practical seminars.
