New Jetfloor is the latest version of the established market leading insulated ground floor solution from Hanson.
Following in depth discussions with their customers Hanson has developed New Jetfloor to further improve productivity on site and provide certainty of compliance with UK building regulations and European standards
“After listening to our customers and seeing the change in emphasis in the building regulations to issues like thermal linear bridging, or psi values, we completely re-thought our approach to Jetfloor.” comments John Duffy Sales Director of Hanson Floors.
New Jetfloor now consists of EPS infill blocks, which no longer go beneath the floor, but rather sit between the floor beams with a layer of EPS sheet insulation laid over the top and then finished with 70mm of RC25/30 structural concrete.
This approach maintains the overall floor zone to that of the original Jetfloor system and provides absolute certainty that any ‘cold bridges’ are avoided and can be verified by simple visual inspection.
“Another key development is the Psi-block® which is a special Thermalite® edge block that dramatically reduces thermal linear bridging around the perimeter of the floor and will help achieve the Target Emission Rates in SAP” added Duffy
Before launching the product New Jetfloor was the subject of numerous site trials, with very positive feedback from groundworkers who remarked on the improved productivity of the system.
As with the original Jetfloor the infill blocks are 1200 mm long, the equivalent of six building blocks, and weigh less than 2kg, making the floor many times faster to install than standard beam and block and much less onerous in terms of manual handling.
The remodelled system now has more regular shaped infill blocks and fewer components making floor layouts much easier to install with a much more efficient use of materials effectively eliminating waste.
Jetfloor was the first flooring system in the UK to utilise expanded polystyrene blocks to provide high levels of thermal insulation in ground floors and has been subject to continuous development since its introduction over 25 years ago.
“As a result we are now able offer Jetfloor systems with a range of U-values providing builders a choice of systems to best meet their requirements,” said John Duffy.
“New Jetfloor is the perfect choice for all types of housing and is a great start for achieving improved and sustainable performance for builders and homeowners and is the latest in a long line of improvements we have made to the system, we are confident that, with the increasing demand for more sustainable homes, it is destined to have a major role to play across all sectors of British housing.”
