Halo launches lowest U-value window on the market

Halo, the VEKA brand with a long tradition in pioneering energy efficient fenestration systems, has launched its latest addition to the System10 range – the TwinSash – which is said to achieve the lowest U-values and sound reduction of any PVC-U window on the market today.

The TwinSash’s U-value performance ranges from 1.2 W/m2K right down to an industry-leading 0.38 W/m2K, depending upon the type of glazing, spacer and gas used.

The 1.2 W/m2K performance is achieved using air filled double-glazed units with float glass and aluminium spacer, enabling specifiers to meet current Building Regulations while achieving extraordinary value for money.

Triple-glazed krypton-filled units and foam filled sections not only enable the TwinSash to provide a U-value of 0.38 – which the company’s believes is significantly lower than any other PVC-U window currently on market – but it also provides substantial noise reduction of 50Db.

Such a high-degree of energy efficiency is ideal for PassivHaus applications and those projects seeking to meet and beat level six of the Code for Sustainable Homes or striving for ‘carbon negative’ construction.

TwinSash is also suitable for Retrofit for the Future (RFF) schemes as its construction complements external cladding by effectively reducing the depth of the reveals necessary.

Surprisingly, perhaps, the TwinSash largely utilises existing components and systems, ensuring that the window is simplicity itself to manufacture and install. Fabricated from either Rustique or System10 sashes; minimal set-up is required as it can be cut and welded on conventional machines. It also uses standard hardware, but can also accommodate blinds and flyscreens in the same window if required.

The TwinSash is eminently versatile, being able to offer a combination or open-in, open-out casements – along with Tilt ‘n’ Turn windows. Maximum sizes range from 900mm by 2100mm in respect of Tilt ‘n’ Turn and 1250mm by 1250mm for casements.

The TwinSash further adds to Halo's history of innovation, which includes: production of the first interchangeable window and door system (1987), creation of the first authentic vertical sliding sash window (1995), introduction of the first five chamber system in Europe (2000) and being the first to produce a patented hybrid beading system (2004).
